- VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
- We are hosting a Mediation Skills Training Institute for Church Leaders given by Lombard Mennonite Peace Center from May 5th - 9th, 8:00 am to 5 pm. If you can volunteer to help out for one morning or afternoon during that time and/or if you would be able to bake something to be available during refreshment periods, it would be greatly appreciated. If you can help, contact Martha.
- Ecumenical Support Services for the Elderly (ESSE)
- Again this year St. Barnabas is asked to supply snacks for the month of May. The sign-up sheet is on the Bulletin Board. Thank you for being generous.
- St. Margaret’s of Scotland
- Rededication of their newly-renovated church, with a visit from Bishop Jeffrey Lee, May 25th at 3:00pm.
- The Flower Chart for 2008
- is located on the sign-up board. Please include your name and if you would like to give the flowers “in thanksgiving” or “in memory” of someone or for a “special occasion”. Questions? See Peg Pelch. There are many openings.
- Support DuPage PADS - Clean your closets!
- PADS has partnered with Fundraise & Recycle Clothes Now! Drop off donations of clothing and soft goods at our green Donation Bin located at 703 W Liberty in Wheaton. No donations will go into landfills!
- The Word Among Us
- Our parish newsletter, is going online. Please consider receiving it by e-mail as a PDF file every other month. This will help us in the greening of St. Barnabas and save money. If interested, please forward your name and e-mail address to: office@stbarnabas-episcopal.com.
- Glen Ellyn Food Pantry
- To help fund Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, a ministry St. Barnabas supports, please consider picking up a sheet from the visitor’s table and registering with escrip so Dominick’s donates to the pantry when you buy groceries.
- RECYCLE YOUR PAPER at St. Barnabas PLEASE!
- There is a large container in the parking lot. Bring your used wrapping paper, newspapers, junk mail, magazines, cereal boxes, cardboard, anything paper, to church every Sunday and put it in the bin. All proceeds benefit the Youth Group
- AARP
- meets at St. Barnabas on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. Many programs of interest are offered: some are on the services provided to senior citizens in our area; some are about issues of concern to senior citizens and some are just entertaining, for young and old alike! - Interested in participating in a Taizé service(s) at St. Barnabas? For more information contact Phil.
- TAIZÉ Service
- Please join us on the third Friday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Sanctuary for this candlelight service of songs, scripture reading, silence, prayers of the people and prayers for peace. The service lasts about an hour and a half. It is followed by a light reception in the narthex.
- Julian Meeting
- The second Sunday of the month at 7:00 pm we have a Julian meeting/contemplative prayer group. We meet in the sanctuary. Please join us for a brief reading or meditation and 20 to 30 minutes of silent contemplative prayer, followed by fellowship and light refreshments.
